Materia Mania is a 1,000-piece collection of abstract, AI-generated forms isolated against solid black, turning diffusion models' characteristic glitches into the subject rather than a flaw to be cleaned up. Instead of steering the model toward recognizable imagery, huemin reinforced its tendency to produce artifacting shapes and strange material textures, so each output reads like an unidentifiable specimen of some synthetic substance. The uniform black ground gives the set the consistency of a catalogue while foregrounding the chaotic, emergent behaviour of the underlying model. The release minted out almost immediately at roughly 0.2 ETH in March 2023.
