UBK: Ultrabionika by Fernando Jerez — 500 AI artworks

UBK: UltrabionikaBy Fernando Jerez · 500 works · released 2023-10-27UBK is a hybrid of long-form generative code and AI image generation: every output is built on top of a piece from Fernando Jerez's Art Blocks collection UMK (Ultra Mechanika). The UMK algorithm supplies layout, composition, symmetry, color, and negative space, while a locally run ComfyUI workflow (WAS suite, MBBXL model) adds narrative, texture, and detail at 1600×2400 px. Each UMK input was rendered in nine major styles tied to life forms and biomes, from Dark Squid and Glass Jungle to Antarctica, and Jerez hand-picked one per input; of roughly 7,000 images generated, 762 were selected, with the BrainDrops edition capped at 500. Rarer 'evolutionary events' (Ascensions, Extinctions, Mutations) and Density, Symmetry, and Coloring traits extend UMK's vocabulary, and Jerez built a custom local PHP/MySQL app to track style and trait distribution during curation.

Each UBK output is generated over a specific UMK piece from Art Blocks (released May 1, 2023, edition of 762).

AI stage: ComfyUI with the WAS suite and the MBBXL Ultimate v0.1 model, run locally on an RTX 3060 (8 GB).

Nine major styles: Dark Squid, Glass Jungle, Octopink, Red Bugs, Shallow Reef, Orange Insects, Desert, Wasp and Bees, Antarctica.

About 7,000 images were generated; 762 were selected and the collection was limited to 500.

Rare 'evolutionary event' variants: Ascensions, Extinctions, and Mutations.
