The Rapture imagines a near future in which the rise of AI unsettles not jobs or machines but the self, eroding individual identity and then the shared systems of meaning that hold a society together. Wubbushi describes the result as a 'dystopian utopia': playful, dreamlike imagery shadowed by darker undertones, with the question of abundance versus catastrophe deliberately left open. In his framing, AI does not create the crisis so much as expose how fragile identity already was, and the collapse carries hints of rebirth and the chance to rebuild purpose. The 300-piece series extends themes of disconnection and technology-driven alienation from his earlier collections, rendered in his AI post-photography idiom.
