Pindar Van Arman is an American artist and roboticist who has spent years studying machine creativity through painting robots and AI, including cloudPainter, an autonomous painting robot that people can also operate remotely online. He won first prize in the international Robot Art Competition and has given a TEDx talk on his work. His evolving bitGANs lineage, which runs from nounGANs to bitGANs, podGANs, robot-painted canvases, and later the quantum-computing qubitGANs, explores AI 'artists' that keep producing unique works. miniPODs adds collaborators Mindshift and RightOnRicky (ricky), whose diffusion experiments inform the collection's most common type.
